Poster

Image
This is the final version of my poster. After showing it in class it was improved by spacing the details of the poster into more a 1,2,3 style poster. I am much happier with this version than the first one! This poster is the original poster that I created. I am a ginger and while I don't get offended by jokes, I hear them all the time. I struggled to come up with a layout that I was completely happy with but, as seen above, that problem was solved! This is the photo I used as inspiration for my poster.

Mesh Project

Image
For this project I created a mug that I have in my dorm room using the mesh tool on Illustrator.

Given

Image
" Billions of years ago the ocean filled up during a giant rain storm. A fish drank so much water that it saved the world from drowning. It became so big that wherever it swam it made huge waves and changed the tides. The big fish waits for a strong and worthy opponent to free his restless spirit. Whoever catches the big fish carries the spirit of the ocean inside him. You don’t need magic to catch a big fish. You just need to follow the stars, listen to the people you meet, and chase the waves.  " This picture and quote are from one of my favorite movies, Given.  This calligram took hours to complete but was completely worth it. The faces could be improved. Overall I am happy with the way that this turned out.

Calligram Inspiration

Image
I found these calligram examples particularly interesting and appealing. I love the Coke can and how words are made with different words. The sun and the hands caught my eye because of how they use fonts and text size to add curves and definition to enhance the appearance of shapes. The last two are my favorites for a few reasons. Steve Jobs is so impressive because of the amount of shading and detail that is made with words. His mustache and hair strands caught my eye first. I think that the last picture is amazing due to the illusion of perspective made by font size and color. All of these calligrams have something that I hope to include in my own project!
